Formats by age group, festival days for the little ones, entries and fees from managers, one link for parents, first-aid alerts, and no children's data. Free while in beta.
Junior tournaments have their own shape. Shorter games, more of them, smaller pitches, three age groups on the go at once, a car park full of parents who want to know where their child is playing next, and a rule book that says under 8s don't get a league table. Zokko was built for exactly that day, by someone who's run it.
These are England's current age-group formats under The FA's FutureFit changes. Set the appropriate format and game length for each competition, and confirm tournament rules with your County FA.
| Age group (England) | Format | What Zokko does |
|---|---|---|
| U7 | 3v3 | Festival timetable and pitches; leave scores unentered and celebrate every team |
| U8 & U9 | 5v5 | Age-group timetable and pitches; follow your County FA's festival, results and trophy-event guidance |
| U10 & U11 | 7v7 | Age-group timetable and pitches; check County FA guidance before entering or publishing results |
| U12 & U13 | 9v9 | Groups, knockouts, tiebreakers and live tables where permitted by your competition rules |
| U14 and up | 11v11 | Competitive formats with semi-finals and finals scheduled in advance |
You set the game length and turnaround per age group, so U8s can play ten minutes each way on the small pitches while the U12s play fifteen on the big one, and the timetable respects both. Check the FA's daily playing-time limits and your County FA's tournament rules before you build. Our FA sanction guide links to the current formats and application guidance.
Kick-off times, pitch numbers, live scores and the running order for presentations. It works on a phone, needs no app and no account. The organiser's phone goes quiet.
A link to the team manager, not the parents. They put the team in, pay the entry fee by card, and you see who's in and who's paid.
Zokko asks for team name, club, age group and a manager's contact. It doesn't ask for children's names, dates of birth or photos, because a tournament doesn't need them.
A tap from any pitch tells the desk and the first aider where they're needed. The incident is logged with the time and the pitch, which your welfare officer will thank you for.
For the youngest groups: use Zokko for the timetable, pitches and the parents' link, skip entering scores so nothing is ranked, and put every team on the presentation list.
It happens the night before, or at 8:40am. Remove the team and the rest of the day rebuilds. If you've a waiting-list team, drop them in.
Weeks before. You build the day: age groups, pitches, game lengths, format per age group. Zokko checks it fits. You share the entry link with managers; entries and fees come in; the entry list fills up.
The week before. You press build. Fixtures and the timetable appear, with no team playing back to back and slack between rounds. You share the public link with managers to pass on to parents. You print the pitch sheets for the referees.
The morning. Teams register at the desk. A team's missing; you remove them and the U9 timetable rebuilds while the U11s carry on untouched. Pitch helpers send scores to the desk. Approved results update the tables. A knock on pitch 4 pings the first aider. You're running twelve minutes behind by 11am, so you trim the remaining U11 games by two minutes and the link updates.
Presentations. The running order is on the link. Every team's on it. The U8s get their medals first because they've been up since six.
If you've never run one before, start with the guide to organising a grassroots tournament: it covers sanction, safeguarding, first aid, fees and the checklist. If you've run ten, you already know which parts of the above you'd like to never do by hand again.
Zokko doesn't replace your welfare officer, your County FA sanction or your first aider; it makes their day easier. Concerns still go to a person. Photos are still your club's policy. The FA's Respect standards still apply on the touchline. What Zokko adds is a record: who was on which pitch when, what was reported, and a timetable that reflects reality rather than the one you printed on Thursday.
Zokko runs the whole day from one screen: fixtures, entries, live scores, referees, first aid and a link parents can follow. It's free while in beta, the guide walks you through it, and I'm an email away when it doesn't.
